I love old brick farm houses.
Each of these houses is located with in a couple of miles of our home. 
This simplified Italianate style is common in almost all of the brick homes built in our area prior to the turn of the 20th century.
I love to see these homes in good condition. So many have fallen into disrepair and are no longer salvageable.

These are lovely buildings, do they still have land or has that been sold leaving the houses?
Hi Jude, All of these homes are on working farms, although the first house is no longer lived in. Most of our county is still largely farm land or woodlands. The properties were sold in 40 acre sections back in the late 1860’s. Our property is 2 of these sections. Many of the working farms nearby are 2-3 times that amount. Parts of our county allow you to build on small parcels of land. Our township requires homes are built on 40 acres or more. They do allow exceptions to the rule but only with the consent of all the surrounding land owners.
These pictures - especially the first two - are exactly what I imagine Wisconsin to be like. I love these red brick buildings against the green landscape too. Very nice.

I live in an old brick farmhouse in Wisconsin! Ours is the cream house bricks though, not red.

How very charming.My two years in the USA was spent in the concrete high rises of Manhattan, I hope I'll get to see this aspect of America sometime in the future.I must show my husband these beautiful pictures so we can build our home in the mountains on these lines.
