Wildlife and Random Thoughts from the Shady Grove

Common Wood-Nymph
Hundreds of dragonflys will fill the fields of the Shady Grove in another week or so.
Eastern Comma
Our valley
Candian Thistle an invasive species, but oh so beautiful and stately.
This boy is just starting to show his antlers
Yearlings feed on the apple trees
and play tag outside my studio window.

That moth would make a lovely quilt. Love the thistles too. Your area is lush green...lucky lady, enjoy!

Isn't wonderful to be "in" the country. Fabulous photos. I just love standing outside and watching a Griffon Vulture glide by.

Love the deer photos!! We usually only see fleeting glimpses!!

I've never seen that Canadian thistle before. (It must not have invaded NH yet). It definitely has beautiful lines and seems like it could inspire some beautiful quilting or stained glass!

wow, you have a wonderful, active, countryside chris! is the dragonfly on some kind of moss, or is it grass?

There really is a lot to see at our farm. It is heaven on earth. The butterfly and dragonfly are on a fallen log covered in moss.
