Happy New Year! I'm just back home from a few days with family to celebrate a belated Christmas. There was a new baby to snuggle and my son and his fiance flew in to join in the fun.
While I was traveling I put the finishing touches on my Mandala quilt.
The theme of the recent Art Quilts Around the World challenge was Mandala.
I used some of my favorite hand dyed colors, fuchsia with a touch of orange, an olive/chartreuse blend, golden yellow and two purples. I love quilts that have a "touch me" appeal to them. I used a purple hand dyed velvet to add texture to the quilt.

So bright and cheerful! Happy New Year, Chris.
It's just gorgeous Chris! I LOVE it! I'm off to check out the link you posted...
Very nice!
Wonderful mix of bright and intense colors; love the velvet! My DD has fallen in love with a quilt pattern which includes silk dupioni and cotton velveteen, both in deep, dark brown. Texture and touch, very inviting!
I like this quilt, it's very colour full and yes I want to touch it.
Chris, This quilt is just gorgeous! I love the color and the texture. I want to reach right in the computer to touch that velvet.
Chris, as I said on the group blog this is STUNNING...not sure I said that or something else, but it IS. Just so perfectly exicuted. LOVE the velvet touches. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!
I like the velvet alot!
Ooh! You're right - that velvet is the something special that makes the whole thing POP! Lovely!
What a beautiful piece, Chris! I like the touch of velvet. Also, I saw the completed baby quilt on Patsy's blog. That turned out great. What a lucky baby.
